Project Overview
A unified UI system for Ford’s 360° web and VR experiences. The interface featured adaptive components optimized for spatial environments, supporting gaze-based navigation, controller input, and minimal head movement.

Rattler™

Collaborating with Rattler™ on VR design was a highly positive and productive partnership, bringing together Ford’s design expertise and Rattler’s deep knowledge of immersive technology. The teamwork was built on open communication, shared problem-solving, and a commitment to innovation, allowing us to push the boundaries of VR experiences within Ford’s ecosystem. Rattler’s technical insights and ability to rapidly prototype enhanced our design process, while our shared focus on user-centric solutions ensured a seamless and engaging experience. This collaboration fostered a creative and iterative workflow, where ideas were refined, tested, and improved upon through continuous feedback. The result was a strong, dynamic partnership that not only met project goals but also set the foundation for future advancements in VR applications at Ford.

UI 360

Designing the 360° VR UI for Ford's Enterprise Design System required a unified approach that ensured consistency across both VR and 360° experiences. The UI system featured adaptive components, including floating dashboards, radial menus, and HUD overlays, optimized for spatial interaction. Elements were strategically positioned to minimize head movement, while gaze-based selection and controller inputs provided seamless navigation. By integrating Ford’s design principles, such as typography, color schemes, and motion guidelines, the UI maintained clarity and usability across immersive applications.

Interaction & Navigation Considerations

Since 360° UIs don’t support traditional touch navigation, users interact through head tracking (gaze selection), hand controllers, gesture recognition, and voice commands, enabling seamless and intuitive control in immersive environments.
